Woodvale Student Wins Beazley Medal

2006 Woodvale Primary School graduate, Nicole Kerr, has been awarded the 2011 Beazley Medal as Western Australia's most outstanding VET student. In a surprising turn of events, Nicole was unaware of her eligibility to win the medal.

" I always like to keep my options open so I selected a combination of TEE and VET subjects. I considered myself a TEE student and was shocked when I was announced as winner of the VET Beazley Medal," said Nicole.

Nicole also achieved an ATAR of 90.45, placing her in the top 10% of state graduates. In an ambitious program of study, Nicole completed Certificate 11 and 111 in Business, Certificate 1 and 11 in Hospitality as well as Stage 3 TEE courses in Accounting and Finance, English, Ancient History and Mathematics.

"If I had to give any advice, I would say work hard and be organised," said Nicole.

Nicole's interest in accounting and business will see her commence a Commerce degree at the University of Western Australia in late February.

2006 Woodvale Primary School Dux, Alex Burton, repeated his achievement in 2011 as Dux of Woodvale Secondary College. Another Woodvale graduate, James Allen, was also WSC's Dux of VET studies.
