Principal’s Update 11/2/2021

Dear Parents and Carers

Thank you all for helping to make the start of the school year so smooth. I was delighted with the way the students settled into their new classes and started learning. Thank you also for wearing masks on school grounds and following COVID-19 restrictions in the classes. Hopefully, we will find out shortly about the restrictions for next week.

Parent-Teacher Meetings. In the past, most teachers have held a meeting with all their class parents early in term 1 to outline their plans and programs for the year. Due to COVID-19, teachers will either meet with parents individually or send home an information booklet. The teachers will use their Class Page on Connect to inform you of their plans.

Monkey Bars. Many thanks to the P&C for funding the new monkey bars in the Year 1 playground. Thank you also to Jason Sachse and helpers who set up the area for the monkey bars during the holidays.

Out of School Hours Care. A committee of parents and myself interviewed five OSHC companies during the holidays. Following a lot of consideration, Camp Australia has been selected as the OSHC provider starting from Monday 19th April (which is a School Development Day). We believe they will provide an excellent service to our school community. I would like to thanks the YMCA for their great service to our school for the last six years. Camp Australia will provide information for parents later in the term regarding before and after school care and their holiday program. Thank you to Sam Byrne, Brighid Jay, Demelza Jackson and Yvonne Donnelly for their time and efforts on the committee.

Faction Polos/School Bags. Uniform Concepts have informed me that the faction polo shirts will be available in term 2. The school bags will be available shortly. The faction polos shirts and school bags are not mandated. Students will be encouraged to wear their faction polo shirts on Fridays from second term.

School Board vacancy. If any parents are interested in nominating for the vacancy on the School Board, please complete the form below and send it to me. Nominations close on Monday 22nd February. Members serve a three-year term. The Board generally meet once a term in the evening. Please contact me or Board Chair, Sam Byrne (0434 882 823) if you would like more information. If there is more than one nomination, then an election will be held. Parents can find more information on the role of a school board member at:
