Principal’s Update – August 6

Dear Parents/Carers

Cross Country. We will go ahead with the Cross Country races in Week 5. The Year 1-3 students will race on Thursday 20th August at 2.00 and the Year 4-6 students on Friday 21st at 2.00. This will enable us to cater for social distancing. Parents are asked to keep 1.5m away from other families and to avoid hugging and shaking hands with other parents. We must also continue to maintain good hygiene practices. These are the guidelines we must follow in order to meet Phase 4 COVID-19 restrictions. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding. Aren’t we lucky to be living in WA! We hope to hold the Faction and Interschool Carnivals, at this stage, and I will let you know the arrangements shortly.

Year 3 Excursion. Congratulations to all the Year 3 students for their excellent behaviour and participation at the Kalamunda History Village recently. Well done!

Year 4 Focus. While we can’t have school assemblies, we have decided to feature one year level or specialist area at our school in the Updates. The Year 4 classes have posted a wonderful report on what is happening in their classes on the school website.

Extension Group. The upper primary extension group have recently researched the best paper plane designs and made their own planes. They tested the same design out with A3 paper and thicker paper to find the best plane. Oliver and Patrick’s planes both flew over 13 metres, a fantastic effort. The world record, by the way, is 69m.

Book Week Dress Up. We would like all students to dress up in their favourite book characters on Thursday 27th August. We won’t be having an assembly but we will take photos of each class.

Area 13 STEM Project. Well done the students in Area 13 who have been creating quizzes using Power Point with hyperlinks.

Reading to PP2. I had a great time reading a book titled, “Arthur” to the students in Pre Primary 2 this week. It was a lot of fun.

Regards
