Principal’s Update – May 7th 2021

Dear Parents and Carers

NAPLAN Tests. The Year 3 and 5 students will be sitting for the NAPLAN tests over the next two weeks. All tests, except Year 3 Writing, are done online. Testing will take place from 9.00-10.20 from Tuesday 11th to Thursday 20th. The tests cover: Numeracy, Reading, Writing and Conventions of Language (Grammar and Punctuation and Spelling).

COVID-19. While we are still observing Phase 4 Operating Guidelines we are restricted in the number of parents who can attend school assemblies to 75% capacity of the undercover area. We were able to accommodate over 50 Year 2 parents yesterday which meant that parents of Merit Award students could not attend. This is frustrating and I am hoping the restrictions will be lifted in the near future. All parents were invited to the ANZAC service as this was held outside. I am very grateful to our parents for your ongoing understanding and support. Parents are welcome to visit classes again next week and there is no need to wear a mask. If you have any queries or suggestions, please contact me.

Year 6 Camp. By all reports, all students had a wonderful time at camp. The weather stayed fine so the students were able to participate in all outdoor activities. I am very grateful to the staff and Angela Homan (parent) for taking the students. Mr Barber, Mr Pucinelli and Mrs Priestly have provided the students with some wonderful experiences which they will remember for a long time.

Mothers’ Day Stall. Many thanks to Jayde McIntosh and her helpers from the P&C for running the stall again this year. I hope all mums are spoilt on Sunday and enjoy their gifts.

Japanese Day. Students from all year levels shared the work they had made in their classes on Tuesday. It was great to see the students’ enjoyment of the presentations and sharing their work. Well done to Miss Black and the staff for a wonderful Japanese Day.

P&C Meeting. Parents are invited to the P&C meeting this Monday, 10th May from 7.00pm in the Conference Room.

Kind regards

Neil McCallum
