Principal’s Update September 23 2021

The Woodvale PS Interschool Athletic Team competed against network schools last Friday. The students performed to the best of their ability and represented our school with pride and distinction. We won by a whopping 96 points! What an incredible effort by the whole team. Thank you Mr P, Mr Mac and Mr B for your time training our teams, it certainly paid off! Below is a photo of 4 of our students who won individual medals: Taylor, Runner Up Girl Year 4, Sophie, Champion Girl Year 6, Matt, Champion Boy Year 4, Mia, Runner Up Girl Year 5.

Schools received their individual results a few days ago. Staff will be analysing this comprehensive data in our first staff meeting in week 2 next term. We use NAPLAN to guide our teaching and learning programs as a whole school, cohort level and at an individual case level. It is also set alongside teacher judgement in ongoing class assessments. I will present our whole of school data to Board in Week 2, Wednesday October 19.

Many thanks and congratulations to Year 5 Area 11 on their fabulous assembly this morning. After last night’s Learning Journey and concert there were certainly many sloths around this morning! I enjoyed your musical performance, information and monkey dance.

Our amazing Merit Award recipients are:

Values Reward

WOW! What a celebration we had yesterday! Students had a ball singing and dancing with local star performer Chris Murphy, who entertained Pre-primary to Year 6 for an hour’s concert. Thank you Mr Barber for coordinating this and well done to our students who earnt the reward for us all! Mrs Cutler was a star playing her “shrunken cello” too.

Thank you to families who attended our beautiful Learning Journey last night! Walking around chatting with parents, staff and students, I reviewed the activities and achievements of our school over the past term. The educational programs and opportunities our students experience at Woodvale PS are varied, interesting and first rate. We are truly educating the whole child, academically, physically (Phys Ed), spiritually (the Arts) and emotionally (Health and Wellbeing), preparing them for their next learning pathways. Your children are also seeing your example of service, through your involvement and support of our school, their learning and their teachers. Together, we have created and are enhancing a learning environment which supports innovation, recognises effort and celebrates success. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Term 4 commences Monday October 11.

Have a lovely holiday break.
