Principal’s Update – 18th May 2020

Dear Parents and Carers

We have 99% attendance today. It’s great to see nearly every student back in class and working hard. It’s also been pleasing to see the junior students settle into their class each day and become more independent.

Just a few reminders from the guidelines in last week’s update:

  • We won’t be holding assemblies. However, we will announce the Merit Award students each fortnight over the PA.
  • Parents are not permitted on school grounds. If you need to pick your child up or drop them off, then you can ring the office to make arrangements to collect them from the staff car park.
  • Students in Kindy-Year 2 will need to be dropped-off and picked-up from the designated gates.
  • Playground equipment and sports equipment will be cleaned each day.
  • Hand sanitisers and soap is available in all classes.
  • Please keep your child home if they are unwell.
  • Board and P&C meetings can take place.

The Education Department will review the arrangements in the near future. Thank you to all of you for your ongoing support and understanding.

New School Website!

The new school website will be live on Wednesday this week. I think parents will find the site easy to navigate and use. The current web address will be used-

Instead of posting a fortnightly newsletter, I will be adding regular Principal’s Updates. I will still notify parents through Connect when an Update is posted.

If you have any suggestions regarding the website, please contact me. Thanks to Mr McManus and Miss McNeill for their help with the new website.

Semester 1 Reports

Teachers will not be giving A-E grades but will give an Effort rating for each subject area. Comments will be provided on each child’s progress in English, Numeracy and a general comment. Student reports will be posted on Connect on Friday 3rd July.

School Photos

The photos were handed out today. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have a query.

COVID-19 Education Assistance package from NBN

NBN is providing funding to assist phone and internet providers to support low-income family households with school-aged children, who do not currently have an active NBN connection at home. This funding will help phone and internet providers create more affordable offers to connect eligible families during Term 2.

If parents and carers want to take advantage of these offers, you can contact internet providers and ask for special COVID-19 deals. The participating provider will help determine if parents and carers are eligible for assistance. It is important you read the terms and conditions of the offers carefully.
