Woodvale Student Named in Olympic Squad

YouthSailor-MattWearn.jpgWPS has an enviable record of producing world and Olympic-class athletes. Young Laser-Radial class sailor, Matthew Wearn, looks set to follow in the footsteps of Tina Morgan (taekwondo) and Casey Dellacqua (tennis) after being named in the Australian Olympic sailing squad for Rio. Matt, who is only 20, is currently ranked 2nd on the ISAF (International Sailing Federation) table after a string of consistent results at international regattas throughout 2015 and 2016.

Matt was already a fine sailor before graduating from Woodvale PS in 2007 and his rapid rise as a world-class athlete is testament to hard work and dedication. The WPS community is extremely proud of Matt's achievements and wishes him well on 'the road to Rio".
